Yukon Quest Record Finish!!
We were there, dear readers, just feet away as Lance Mackey blew the old course record out of the ice by fourteen ... count 'em ... FOURTEEN HOURS. We stood by the final straightaway and cheered his team in with a crowd of tough Fairbanksians wrapped to the eyes in fleece and fur. Lance looked exhausted (he left the last mandatory layover this morning at 2am) but the dogs were perky, if ice-encrusted, wagging their tails at the crowd. I have a math test in two hours (the preparation for which has suffered greatly due to the day-early Quest finish) but until I can get back and tell you all about it, enjoy the photographs we managed to snag while trying to stay thawed out on the frozen Chena river.

Wow--14 hours!! How did he do it?
Your post with all the photos was great! Raised my interest in a sport I barely ever heard of.
Congrats on your new car too!
