Notes from Solar Cabin

We are two humans and a hound setting down roots in the permafrost north of Fairbanks.
We left a lot of people we love down south, and hope these missives will help span some of those miles.

You Know It's 20F in Fairbanks When

... every male between the ages of thirteen and eighteen is wearing shorts.

... no one over the age of three is wearing a coat.

... adults stand out-of-doors, idly conversing, six feet from a heated building.

... cars are double-and-triple-parked at the xc-ski trailheads in the middle of the day.

... Nyssa does not come flying back into the cabin covered in frost thirty seconds after we let her out the door.

I know this isn't going to last ... but we are enjoying every second.

Well, this is a switch! The mercury's been hovering just around 0 for the past few days here!

It dove back down to zero yesterday, but the weather (paired with the rapidly growing daylight) was full of hope. I do hope things warm up for you soon!

we've been having our coldest weather of the season here in baltimore @ 20 degrees F - i might say that the reaction to this temp here has been quite the opposite of that in fairbanks. :) ahh, perspective... isn't it interesting?
